Double Bone-Block Arthrodesis For The Correction Of A Dorsal Bunion Deformity

The dorsal bunion is a complex, multiplanar deformity that may occur after surgical correction of clubfeet or in neuromuscular conditions. We present a surgical technique used with success by the senior author that involves correction of the plantar-flexion metatarsophalangeal joint deformity and correction of the dorsiflexion medial column bony deformity with a naviculocuneiform arthrodesis and 1-2 intercuneiform arthrodesis using intercalary allograft bone wedges. This is a new technique that has provided reliable and durable correction without complication in 6 patients.
