Low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-antioxidant lignans from Myristica fragrans seeds

Six diarylbutane lignans 1–5 and one aryltetralin lignan 6 were isolated from the ethyl acetate extracts of Myristica fragrans seeds and then 7-methyl ether diarylbutane lignan 4 has proven to be a new compound. Their compounds 1–7 were evaluated for LDL-antioxidant activity to identify the most potent LDL-antioxidant compound 3 with an IC50 value of 2.6μM.
