摘要
1.Discuss the similarities and differences between pediatric and adult palliative care including hospice.2.List nonpharmacological interventions to help children with pain or distressing symptoms.3.Identify resources that provide guidance for pediatric pain and symptom management.4.Describe children's developmental understanding of death.5.Discuss common symptoms in children at the end-of-life and the treatment of them. Children present unique challenges to healthcare professionals. The preconference discusses specifics for the nurse who may not be familiar with the pediatric population but finds themselves suddenly having to care for a child. This interactive workshop in pediatric palliative care is designed to enhance and morph your adult hospice and palliative care skills to care for kids and their families in your communities who need your care. Practical advice, scenarios, and a review of available resources will be included to help you see that you really have the many gifts to offer to the families and know you do not have to do this alone.
