Microwave performance of a MEMS switch designed for RF and microwave routing

We have demonstrated the microwave characteristics of a MEMS switch built on a quartz substrate even though the actuators do not function properly. The results show very broadband performance with insertion loss much less than that available from any semiconductor switch. At the same time isolation is equal to or better than to that of semiconductor monolithic integrated circuit switches.
