Mycoplasma infections of seminal fluid of infertile men in Wuxi and drug susceptibility testing

OBJECTIVE To investigate the condition of Ureaplasma urealyticum(Uu) infections in male infertile patients and the drug resistance.METHODS A total of 600 male infertile patients who enrolled Wuxi People′s Hospital from 2010 to 2011 were collected,the seminal fluid of those patients were performed for Mycoplasma culture and the drug susceptibility testing.RESULTS There were 143 of 600 patients who were infected with Uu(23.83%);the drug susceptibility testing demonstrated that the drug resistance rate of Uu was the lowest to pristinamycin,ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin the highest.CONCLUSION Uu infection is one of the main causes of male infertility;pristinamycin,doxycycline,josamycin,azithromycin and clarithromycin rather than ofloxacin or ciprofloxacin can be chosen as the preferred therapy remedy for infertile men with Mycoplasma infections because Mychplasma are not liable to produce drug resistance during the clinical treatment.
