The isolation of ribosomes from eggs and embryos of Rana pipiens

A new method of preparing ribosomes from Rana pipiens eggs and embryos which utilized high pH, ionic strength and detergent, gives good yields of particles having the characteristics of ribosomes. These particles depend on magnesium for their integrity, sediment with the same velocity as ribosomes from adult liver, and contain RNA characteristic of ribosomal RNA.
