摘要
Nuclear collisions provide the only means to compress nuclear matter to high density within a laboratory environment. Analysis of the motions of ejected matter now place significant constraints on the equation of state of symmetric matter. Additional constraints on the density dependence of the asymmetry term of the EOS are needed to understand extremely neutron-rich environments like neutron stars, where the asymmetry term plays a pivotal role. Collisions with rare isotope beams may provide the necessary constraints.
