Trends in Storage Infrastructure

Abstract Weforesee,an emerging ,application ,oriented storage,infrastructure ,whereby ,interconnected specialized server applications and generalized storage entities store/retrieve data. A File/Cache manager,of a scalable distributed file system manages ,data access and,consistency. The applications access ,standard abstract virtual datasets, which are transparently translated to storage ,access requests to objects ,(of an object based storage), iSCSI or FS files. The generalized,storage ,entity maps ,all access ,requests (directly or via ,device independent ,mechanism) ,to a conventional block controller, which in turn uses RAID for error correction and reliability,
