Ettachments for e-Textiles

The integration of wires and electronics in e-textiles has many potential applications for wearable computing. One method which allows dense electronics modules on an e-textile is to create attachments composed of conventional electronics devices on a PCB. These attachments can use a variety of methods to connect to wires in an e-textile. This design allows for e- textile electronics modules which are easily attachable, remov- able, replaceable, and interchangeable. This paper presents e- textile attachment design, connection techniques, communication alternatives, and experiences from the construction of a prototype wearable e-textile with multiple attachments.
