Toxicity of single-walled carbon nanotube: How we were wrong?

The issue of contradictory data on the toxic effects of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) is discussed. A number of research efforts have been dedicated to this field after it emerged as one of the significant issues. An effort is made to understand this conception by taking HiPco® single-walled carbon nanotube. Some key points of investigation of toxicity of single-walled carbon nanotube have been highlighted to provide more information. The similar experimental process includes pretreatment of SWCNT, cell culture, and exposure conditions. The conflicting results can be easily found from the comparison. Toxicity is defined as the degree to which a substance is able to damage an exposed cell or or a whole organism, such as an animal, bacterium, or plant, and organs.
