4 FORGAP: A MODEL FOR SOLAR RADIATION, EVAPOTRANSPIRATION AND SOIL WATER DYNAMICS IN TROPICAL RAIN FOREST GAPS

A PCRaster model called FORGAP, FORest GAP, is presented that calculates radiation, evapotranspiration and soil water dynamics in and around forest gaps. Model structure, equations, input and output are discussed. After optimalisation with the program PEST, the calibrated model calculated soil water content of the topsoil well.
