A case of cocaine-induced acute interstitial nephritis.

Acute interstitial nephritis (AIN) is a well known but often overlooked cause of acute kidney injury (AKI). AIN is discovered on 15% of biopsy samples obtained in the evaluation of acute renal failure. 2 AIN may occur because of a variety of conditions, including systemic infections and immune or immune-like inflammation and as a drug reaction. We present a case of drug-induced AIN secondary to a cocaine binge.
