Introducing BCI2000

This chapter introduces the BCI2000 software platform by describing how its system model can accommodate all existing BCIs, and by discussing how its source modules, signal processing modules, and application modules are controlled by an operator module that provides an interface to the investigator. This chapter also points out the advantages of using BCI2000 in BCI research, discusses issues of system performance requirements and real-time processing, and closes with a description of existing BCI2000 implementations and their impact to date.
