The video summary GWAP: summarization of videos based on a social game

Video summarization is a classical problem in multimedia. How can we reduce the size of a video stream to a minium necessary to allow the user for deciding upon relevance of the video. In this paper we present an approach to video summarization that incorporates a social game, a so called game with a purpose. By playing a fun game users contribute to data used to decide which shots of a video are necessary to be included in a summary and which not. The usefulness and feasibility of our approach is shown in an evaluation.
