Interaction design for citizen engagement and digital government

Interaction design is an area within the larger field of human-computer interaction (HCI) that stresses user experience as central to the process of designing, creating, and evaluating interactive systems. In this half-day workshop, participants will explore how techniques and theories used in interaction design could be employed to increase and deepen citizen engagement and to make digital government more responsive and effective. Participants will also discuss broader issues related to the challenges of rapid technology change, continuous changes in user profiles and expectations, and the need for participatory iterative design practice in the development of e-govemment and e-participation systems.
