个人简介
With an engineering bachelor's degree, Dr. Gazes studied Cognitive Psychology at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and joined the Cognitive Neuroscience Division in the Neurology department. Dr. Gazes' main research focuses on understanding the neural decline that occurs with aging and its relationship to the accompanying cognitive changes. Using neuroimaging tools such as fMRI and DWI, she examines questions such as 'what is the mechanism that enables the maintenance of crystallized abilities, which are abilities previously found to resist aging decline?' and 'which novel measures of grey and white matter health better explain the differences between individuals with varying levels of reserve, which has been found to serve as a protective factor in aging?' Her other research interests include clinical application of white matter imaging techniques and combining different imaging techniques to understand cognitive aging.
