Konishi Yoshinobu

Originally trained as a hematologist, my entire scientific career has been devoted to studying cell-cell interactions within the tumor microenvironment. I graduated from Kyoto University Faculty of Medicine, one of the best medical schools in Japan, and worked as a hematologist for five years. After clinical training, I started my scientific career in the laboratory of Dr. Michiyuki Matsuda at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine. During PhD course, I learned state-of-art in vivo imaging and studied cell-cell interactions within the tumor microenvironment. Subsequently, I received an ASH Abstract Achievement Award at the 60th ASH Annual Meeting in 2018 for my PhD work. I have over six years of laboratory experience with a strong set of wet lab skills and skills in image data processing with an extensive cell biology background. Now I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Ghobrial lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Ghobrial lab focuses on identifying mechanisms of multiple myeloma progression, those that are cell autonomous or those dependent on the bone marrow microenvironment. The Ghobrial lab also has great scientific collaborators in bioinformatics and data science. This is the perfect scientific environment for me. I plan to pursue a career as a physician-scientist and want to become a leader in the field of cancer research.
