He is now an Associate Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Before joining in PolyU as an Assistant Professor, he was a Research Fellow with the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, University of Southampton, working on biomedical signal processing. His current research interests are generally related to Nonlinear Dynamics, Vibration, and Control focusing on theory and methods for employing nonlinear benefits in engineering, including nonlinear frequency domain methods, nonlinear system identification or signal processing, vibration control, robust control, sensor technology, energy harvesting, nonlinear fault diagnosis or information processing, bio-inspired systems and methods, and robotics etc.
Area of Specialization: Frequency domain methods for nonlinear systems (the nCOS function or OFRF based methods); Nonlinear vibration control; Employing nonlinear benefits; Robotics—Analysis, Design & Control (Marine robotics, Construction robots and other bio-inspired robots); Robust learning/control methods; Nonlinear system identification and signal processing; Intelligent computing and optimization
