He has supervised or co-supervised more than fifty M.Sc. and Ph.D. students and has more than 400 publications to his credit.

Since 2004, he has held a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair, the MiViM chair – Multipolar Infrared Vision Infrarouge Multipolaire, which was renewed in 2011 and in 2018. His research interests include infrared thermography, non-destructive testing and vision/digital systems for industrial inspection. Among other achievements, he launched the pulsed phase thermography technique which is recognized for its very fine capabilities for detecting subsurface defects in infrared thermography.

Two of his books are now part of the body of knowledge of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). He was also editor of several ASNT publications. Since 2017, he has led the NSERC CREATE “oN DuTy!” initiative. which brings together four universities and several industrial partners interested in non-destructive testing. He has organized numerous international conferences on infrared vision and is also active in several international organizations involved in this field, such as CINDE, SPIE Thermosense, and Conseil QIRT of which he is director. He is a member of IEEE Canada from which he received the J. J. Archambault Prize. He is also president of the IEEE Quebec Section for 2021-2023. He is a Fellow of ASNT (USA), AvH (Germany), ISNT (India) and EIC (Canada).

In 2019, he received an honorary doctorate in infrared thermography from the University of Antwerp (Belgium).
