Bio
Yung-Hsien Wu (SM’13) was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1974. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in electronics engineering from National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, in 2000.
In 2000, he joined ProMOS Technologies under the Defense Industry Reserve Duty System where he was involved in advanced process development and assessment in Diffusion Department with a major focus on 140/120-nm 256M double data rate (DDR) DRAM and 180-nm Flash memory from 2000 to 2003. Since 2003, he was with Product Development Department, ProMOS Technologies, where he is involved in the design debug of 110-nm 512M double data rate two dynamic random access memory products and the introduction of DDR2 product into mass production. In 2005, he joined the Department of Engineering and System Science, NTHU, as an Assistant Professor, where he was promoted as an Associate Professor and a Professor in 2009 and 2012, respectively. In 2012, he was a Visiting Professor with the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre, Leuven, Belgium, where he was involved in the development of next-generation nonvolatile memory technology. He has authored or coauthored 7 technical papers, more than 80 SCI papers, several prestigious conference papers, and 1 book chapter. He holds 19 patents (U.S., Taiwan, China) in his professional field in ProMOS Technologies and 33 patents (U.S., Taiwan, German, and China). His current research interests include novel materials and innovative structures that empower next-generation nanoelectronics.
Dr. Wu was a recipient of the Individual IP Award in 2002 and 2003 for his abundant contribution in patent proposal, the Young Faculty Research Award of NTHU in 2010, the College-level Excellent Teaching Award in 2009 and 2014, the University-level Excellent Teaching Award in 2011, 2014, and 2018, the College-level Outstanding Mentor Award I 2011, the University-level Outstanding Mentor Award in 2011, and the Outstanding Young Scholar Research Grant by National Science Council in 2012. In 2015, he was conferred with the title of NTHU Distinguished Professor for his outstanding contribution in teaching and mentoring young talents.
