个人简介
William Cai received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Harbin Institute of Electrical Technology, Harbin, China, in 1982 and 1985, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, USA, in 1999.
He worked as a Visiting Professor with the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Madison, WI, USA, from 1994 to 1995, as a Senior Scientist with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland, in 1996, and a Researcher with Clarkson University, from 2017 to 2019, and he served as the Technology Director with Remy International Inc., Noblesville, IN, USA, from 1999 to 2008. He has been a Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Harbin University of Science and Technology, Harbin, since 2019. He is the Invited Professor with Southeast University, Nanjing, China, the Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing. He is the Founder of Jing-Jin Electric, Beijing, and a Council Member of China EV 100, an Expert Group Leader of National New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Electric Drive Technical Roadmap (2021 to 2035), and an Electric Drive Group Leader of National Electric Vehicle Safety Guide. He has authored more than ten technical books as well as many dozens of scientific articles. He is the inventor of “hairpin windings” technology and the first people who applied the hairpin winding motors to the two mode hybrid vehicles of General Motors (GM), Bavarian Motor Works (BMW), Daimler, and Chrysler.
