William C. Stone

Dr. Stone received a PhD in engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. After working at NIST for 24 years as a group leader in space and automation systems he founded Stone Aerospace in 2001. Since then he has led the company as CEO. He has been PI or Co-I on 12 NASA funded projects relating to the development and field testing of planetary robotic systems for Ocean World exploration and life search including five generations of sub-ice autonomous vehicles and four novel cryobot designs including the laser-powered VALKYRIE vehicle and the full-scale nuclear-compatible THOR vehicle. He has spent more than ten years in the field on scientific and exploratory expeditions.
