Wei-Chang Yang

Dr. Wei-Chang David Yang is a materials research engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), leading the metrology research project for environmental transmission electron microscopy. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Purdue University. Before his current appointment, he conducted his postdoctoral research at NIST, developing in-situ and operando methods for S/TEM to measure dynamic processes, mentored by Dr. Renu Sharma. His current research focuses on nanoscale light-matter interactions in materials that potentially impact catalytic CO2 conversion, direct air capture, and future semiconductor development. His work on plasmonic photochemistry gained him the Early Career Award from the Nanometer-scale Science and Technology Division of the American Vacuum Society in 2019. He was also one of the recipients of the Microscopy Society of America’s Postdoctoral Scholar Award (2019).
