Dr. Suddath’s research and educational interests focus primarily coronary artery disease. At Medstar Washington Hospital Center, he is involved in multiple drug and stent trials, as well as a trial that treats left ventricular dysfunction by using stem cells in the coronary artery to improve the overall function of the heart. Dr. Suddath is primarily interested in studying and supporting research to salvage the myocardium in the setting of acute myocardial infarction, usually done with rapid access and stents and support devices, like the balloon pump, to improve overall recovery of heart function. Most recently, he has been involved in the implementation of Impella support devices in cardiogenic shock.
