Unravelling the molecular mechanisms that impose regional identity in the developing nervous system

As an embryo develops, a wide variety of cell types form along the length of the body. This diversity is dependent on position: some cell types form exclusively in the head, while others form in the trunk. Our ambition is to understand how this organisation is established and maintained during development, by studying the transcriptional control mechanisms that govern cell fate decisions.
