Valerie Crepel

Dr. Valérie Crépel is a Research Director at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), leading the team “Neuronal Coding and Plasticity in Epilepsy” at the Institut de Neurobiologie de la Méditerranée (INMED). She holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Paris XI University (Paris-Saclay), which she obtained in 1992. From 1996 to 1998, she was a visiting scientist in the laboratory of B. MacVicar. From 2013 to 2015, she served as the Secretary General of the French Neuroscience Society, and from 2016 to 2021, she was the Chair of the National INSERM Neuroscience Committee. Thanks to her expertise in the physiopathology of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, she has gained international recognition. Along with Dr. Christophe Mulle, Dr. Valérie Crépel is a scientific co-founder of Corlieve Therapeutics, a company that develops gene therapy products for treating epilepsy. In 2021 and 2022, she was awarded with the Académie Nationale des Sciences, Belles-lettres et arts de Bordeaux and the Inserm Innovation Prize, respectively.
