Lima Aurea

Áurea Lima (10.10.1979) was the first Portuguese researcher to be honored by the Scientific Committee on International Congress Anti Cancer Treatment) for her research work in the area of genetic polymorphisms of TYMS (thymidylate synthase) and Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). This work, developed under the Masters in Molecular Medicine and Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto and made in ​​the Molecular Oncology Group, Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto Francisco Gentil EPE, demonstrates the role of polymorphisms in the TYMS response to treatment of patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer. She have done research work related with precision medicine and the association between genetic polymorphisms in genes that codify for proteins involved on Methotrexate action mechanism and their influence in Methotrexate therapeutic outcome in Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. Since 2018 she is an Medical Oncology resident at Medical Oncology Service of Centro Hospitalar de Entre o Douro e Vouga, Portugal.
