The research group of Dr. Pal, in collaboration with several national and international research groups is devoted to design, fabrication, characterization and application of advanced materials. The materials of interest of his research group include pure and composite materials of metallic and semiconducting nature at nanoscale (0-D, 1-D and 3-D).
The intention of his group is to explore the novel physical and chemical properties of these low-dimensional materials derived from their special optical (plasmonic and quantum confinement) properties, high specific surface area and specific electronic or chemically reactive (acid/base) sites in solar energy conversion, bio-gas and bio-diesel production, biomarker for cancer detection, photocatalysis, sensors, and dosimetry.
