个人简介
Prof. Tore Bengtsson is the Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Sigrid Therapeutics AB. He is specialised in physiology and molecular biosciences at Stockholm University, leading an international group of scientists in metabolism, obesity and its related diseases at the Department of Molecular Biosciences, the Wenner-Gren Institute, at Stockholm University.
Prof. Bengtsson has a broad experience from commercialising scientific research discoveries. He has been involved in a number of projects in collaboration with with Big Pharma companies and several successful startups, including Atrogi AB, Glucox Biotechnology AB and Symcel AB.
As a Professor, I have developed my ability to convey knowledge and inspire my students, and have over the years received awards (1999 & 2007) and nominations (1997, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2005) for “Teacher of the year” at Stockholm University and their departments of biology.
My research is dedicated to understanding stimulation of glucose uptake into skeletal muscle and fat working towards a solution of lowering blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes. Through the understanding of novel insulin-independent mechanisms, via activation of sympathetic nerves and adrenergic receptors, this disease can hopefully be combated.
Apart from my work at Stockholm University, I am a founder and co-founder of several companies. This has allowed me to develop broad entrepreneur and business knowledge such as strategic thinking, economic skills and communication competence.
As you may already have figured out, I enjoy juggling many balls at once to be able to solve complicated problems. I am constantly striving for new knowledge and making new friendships and collaborations, so don´t hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Prof. Tore Bengtson
