个人简介
Dr Tim Adair is a demographer and Principal Research Fellow in the Nossal Institute for Global Health at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health. His primary interest is working with Governments of low-to-middle income countries to strengthen their civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems and improve the quality of health data available to policymakers.
At the University of Melbourne, he previously worked in CRVS with the Bloomberg Philanthropies Data for Health Initiative, leading its Fellowship Program to build capacity in both individuals and institutions to enhance the quality, sustainability and policy utility of CRVS systems. He is also active in developing and teaching methods and tools to assess the quality of mortality registration systems and generate key mortality indicators from incomplete data. Dr Adair also makes significant research contributions investigating causes of the recent slowdowns in Australian life expectancy increases and high-income country cardiovascular disease mortality declines. His research on these topics has been published in the peer-reviewed literature and also received considerable local and international media attention. He also has extensive experience in population ageing research and teaching, and is subject coordinator of Global Population Ageing within the Master of Ageing program.
