My professional career, spanning both academic and industrial settings, has provided me with a broad background in the development and implementation of translational diagnostics. Since I began my tenure at Johns Hopkins in 2013, I have worked on the development of epigenetic molecular diagnostic strategies for multiple cancer types with an emphasis on the use of non-invasive sample types including blood, stool, sputum and Pap specimens. My future research goals are generally aimed at the development and implementation of innovative molecular analysis techniques with advanced biostatistical and bioinformatic analyses to achieve inexpensive, clinically-practical epigenetic assessment strategies for the study of carcinogenesis and the early detection of disease.
