Professor Thomas O. Olwal obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Paris- EST and Doctor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). He is currently lecturing at the TUT as an Associate Professor and previously worked at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) as Senior Scientific Researcher in wireless computing and networking. He is a senior member of IEEE and serves as a reviewer in a number of ACM/IEEE journals and conferences. He is interested in a research flagship known as Cognitive Foraging Networks for Sustainable Health, Water, Energy, Spectrum and Agriculture (COFON4SHWESA) based on the following theories: distributed algorithms, computational agent-based modelling, cognitive radio networks, software defined networks, decentralized decision making, emergence and self-organization, amorphous and security computing, autonomous systems, cooperation, optimization, game theory, resource allocation, sustainable energy systems, behavioral ecology, bio-mimicry and bio-inspiration.
