Dr Stevenson is an internationally-recognized authority on crop protection discovery chemistry. He has discovered many active areas of herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides. He has lectured and presented widely on these areas. He has been actively involved with the organization of symposia at both American Chemical Society and IUPAC meetings. He is also well known for his contributions to discovering and popularizing new bioisosteres and new scaffold hopping techniques. He is a co-inventor and/or contributor to 3 commercial insecticides which have annual sales exceeding 2 billion dollars per year. He is also a respected mentor who has been especially engaged in recognizing the achievements of his peers in both the workplace and in academia by successfully nominating them for numerous awards and grants.
