My main research interests are related to neurohormonal mechanisms in the
control of blood pressure and cardiac function, with a focus on structural
myocardial and vascular changes in hypertension, hypertesive heart disease,
the transition from hypertension to heart failure, and on neuroendocrine
regulatory mechanisms in heart failure. In particular, we study effects of
the sympathetic nervous system and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system
in this context. Other areas of interest are cardiovacular risk assesment and
prevention, and health economics and implementation of treatment.
