Bovine TB (BTB), caused by infection with Mycobacterium bovis, is a major endemic disease affecting global cattle production, particularly in many developing countries. Human TB, caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis is 99.5% similar to MB. My current work involves exploring the host response to M. bovis in bovine alveolar macrophages at different stages of infection at the level of the epigenome and transcriptome. My focus is integrating multiple forms of data to elucidate novel host response mechanisms as well as host immune evasion techniques employed by the pathogen.
