His areas of research interest include computational electromagnetics, interactions between electromagnetic fields and biological tissues, design and analysis of magnetic resonance imaging radiofrequency probes and biological sensors, and computational modeling of cardiac electrophysiology. He has over 80 publications in referred journal articles and international conference proceedings in areas related to his research interests.,Dr. Ibrahim served on the Review Board of Applied Computational Electromagnetics Journal special Issue on BioElectromagnetics and on the Technical Program Committee and as a session chairman in International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) and The URSI/IEEE Antenna and Propagation (APS) annual meetings. He is the chairman of the IEEE OU Student Chapter, and a member of URSI Commission K, ISMRM, IEEE APS and Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) Societies, and Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi, and Eta Kappa Nu Honor Societies. He received The ElectroScience Laboratory's Outstanding Masters Thesis Award of 1999 and Outstanding Journal Paper Award of 2000. He received awards for papers at The 2000 IEEE APS Meeting and at The 2001 ISMRM Hardware Meeting. He is listed in the 60th edition of Who's Who in America.
