Syed Yusuf Mian

I am working at the School of Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University as a doctoral student. My research project is aimed at understanding the erythrocyte invasion by Plasmodium parasites and design novel therapeutics against malaria. To address my research goals I use diverse techniques such as x-ray crystallography, SPR , ELISA, flow cytometry, protein chromatography, Plasmodium parasite in vitro culture, Plasmodium blood-stage based functional assays etc Through one of my research work I have established a proof of principle for the development of key merozoite antigens essential for eryhtrocyte invasion as potent vaccine candidates. Currently, I am trying to understand the structural and functional significance of some of the essential merozoite antigens.
