Research Interests
I. Structural biology of molecular signaling
The structural basis for understanding how molecules communicate with each other to activate or inhibit particular processes are probed by experimentally determining and understanding the three-dimensional structures of molecules associated with several important signaling pathways, such as cell growth, cell differentiation, and cancer.
II. Structural genomics and proteomics
The architectural motifs of proteins used by all organisms are very similar. Computational methods have been developed to classify the motifs and to discover possible evolutionary relationships among the motifs.
III. Demography and phylogeny of whole genomes/proteomes
A large number of whole genome sequences have been determined in the current decade. Computational methods have been developed to group all known whole genome/proteome sequences based on their similarities. This approach provides global views of demography (grouping) and phylogeny (relationship among the demographic groups) of whole genome/proteome sequences of organisms.
