Stephen's research, teaching and advocacy agenda aims to ensure that society makes greater use of pharmacists's unique skills. In regards to research, Stephen uses qualitative and quantitative methods to understand more about: a) how consumers and their caregivers obtain and use their medicines and medicines information; b) how best to design and utilise pharmacist services, both as primary care practitioners and as collaborators in teams; and c) how best to support and educate pharmacists throughout their journey from students to interns to practitioners and to on advanced practitioner status. He is Chairman of the Board of Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacists(AACP). He is a Fellow of the PSA and represents the organisation on various National committees.
