Stephen’s research has focused on developing the technologies that enable terahertz and microwave sensing, particularly at the sub-wavelength scale. His research has various themes:
High quality-factor dielectric resonators for sensing applications
mm-wave and terahertz antennas and antenna arrays

Near-field terahertz and microwave scanning microscopy
Biological applications of terahertz radiation
Terahertz devices utilising two-dimensional materials
