Stefan Schröder (Senior Member, IEEE) was born in Cologne, Germany. He received the Diploma and the Doctoral degree, both in electrical engineering, from RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany, in 1997 and 2003, respectively. In 1997, he became a Research Associate with the Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, RWTH Aachen University, where he worked on power electronic circuits and devices, particularly on high-power semiconductors, became the Chief Engineer in 2002. He was responsible for research in the fields of electrical drives, power electronic circuits, and semiconductor devices. From 2005 to 2017, he was with GE Global Research Europe, Munich, Germany, finally as Senior Principal Engineer. He is on power electronic applications with a focus on high-power converters for medium-voltage drives, for renewable energy systems and grid scale applications, such as HVDC and interties. Since 2018, he has been with Danfoss, Munich. He is the Chief Engineer for Medium Voltage Drives and is on high power converters for electrical drives and electrification applications. He has authored or coauthored more than 70 published technical papers and filed more than 60 patents. Dr. Schröder is a Member of VDE.
