We want to understand the magnetic properties of novel nano materials and structures and even single molecules and atoms on surfaces. Beyond that, we also want to learn how to manipulate and control them for future applications in spin electronics. The spin of electrons is a property like their electric charge and can be used to process and to code information. Through specific manipulation we could create faster and highly efficient components for information technology.
