Her research experience and interests span a range of topics related to mesoscale meteorology/dynamics and organised deep convection which she has investigated using a combination of observations and high-resolution numerical models. She has experience with real and idealised modelling systems and has participated in mobile radiosonde operations for numerous field campaigns. Stacey’s current research interests involve investigation of mesoscale and convective scale processes that lead to extreme precipitation. Additional specific interests include: deep convective organisation/maintenance processes, storm environments and storm-environment feedbacks, mesoscale convective systems, severe weather, data assimilation, orographic precipitation, and the interaction of convective downdrafts with a stable planetary boundary layer and the role of vertical wind shear in the production of cold pools, bores, gravity waves, etc. Stacey has held a variety of organisational and leadership roles in the broader atmospheric science community. The most significant of these include co-chairing the 2018 Student Conference at the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Annual Meeting, an event which attracts over 800 students annually, serving as the student member of the 2017 AMS Annual Meeting program committee, and as an inaugural member of the American Geophysical Union Atmospheric Science Section's Early Career Committee.
