Current Positions: Professor of Genetics, Institute of Biosciences, Life Sciences Center, Vilnius University, Vilnius, Lithuania and Deputy Director for Research and Development of National Cancer Institute, Vilnius, Lithuania. Education: • 1993 PhD Degree in Biology • 2000 – 2003 postdoctoral studies in Finnish Institute of Occupational Health • 2009 Habilitation procedure • 2016 Professor of Genetics at Vilnius University • 2018 Qualification in Medical Biology • 2022 MS in Health management and politics Research interests: Molecular genetics and epigenetics; molecular mechanisms of cancer and other pathologies, genetic biomarkers. Research methods: Molecular genetics and epigenetics analysis methods, including whole genome/ whole exome DNA sequence analysis, Next generation sequencing. Publications: >50 scientific publications, 3 textbooks books for higher education. Projects: participated in >10 national and international research projects as project leader or investigator, was involved in COST activities BM0703 and CM1406; 5 international projects in collaboration with partners from Finland, UK, Canada; EU SF project “Biotechnology and bioinformatics: fundamental and applied research”. Awards: • 1999 – National grant of young scientist. • 2007 – Prize for higher education textbook. • 2011 – Acknowledgment from the Minister of Education and Science for the preparation of excellent students in the national phase of the EU Young Scientist Contest. • 2016 – Acknowledgment from the Minister of Education and Science for the significant contribution to the development of fundamental and applied research in oncology and the translation of results into practice. • 2018 – Lithuanian science prize awarded by the Lithuanian academy of sciences for the research study ‘New-generation cancer markers‘ • 2019 – Cross of the Knight of the Order of Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas.
