Simon R. Schultz (Member, IEEE) trained in physics and electrical engineering (at Monash and Sydney Universities), before completing the D.Phil. degree in computational neuroscience at Oxford University, Oxford, U.K., in 1998. Currently, he is a Reader in Neurotechnology, and Director of the Centre for Neurotechnology at Imperial College London, London, U.K. He studied experimental neuroscience as a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratories of Tony Movshon and Michael Haüsser, before founding his own laboratory at Imperial College. He is widely known for work on the encoding of information in the nervous system. Dr. Schultz is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (FIET) and the Royal Microscopical Society (FRMS).
