With over 20 years of work experience in cardiology and cardiovascular imaging, I am a professor at Charité Berlin, where I lead a research group on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and teach medical students and residents. I am also the editor-in-chief of Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine: Cardiovascular Imaging, a peer-reviewed open access journal that publishes cutting-edge research on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular diseases using imaging modalities. Additionally, I am the consortium leader of G-BA Projekt "HerzCheck", a large-scale project that aims to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of cardiac MRI in patients with suspected coronary artery disease. I have multiple board certifications, level III competencies, and specialist qualifications in cardiology, internal medicine, and cardiovascular MRI, as well as a PhD (habilitation) from Charité University Medicine Berlin. I am passionate about advancing the field of cardiovascular imaging and improving the outcomes and quality of life of patients with cardiac conditions. I have published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews, and received several awards and grants for my research. I have also been involved in various professional societies, committees, and editorial boards, and mentored numerous young researchers and clinicians. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to my work, as I have studied and worked in different countries and institutions, such as The Johns Hopkins University, Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, and Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin. My mission is to contribute to the innovation and excellence of cardiovascular imaging and medicine through research, education, and collaboration.
