Sean is an active clinician, researcher and educator. He has been a member of the Scientific Programme & Education Committee of the Australian & New Zealand Society of Nephrology and was the Manager of the Paediatric Working Group of the Australian & New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry (ANZDATA) between 20011 and 2017.

Sean is a medical advisor to Tuberous Sclerosis Australia and is recognised for his expertise in management of the renal manifestations of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). He has an ongoing research programme with his colleagues at the Sydney Children's Hospital TSC Clinic.
