Our research program is focused on investigating the role of peripheral nerves in controlling epithelial organ development, regeneration, and chronic disease (autoimmune disease, aging, cancer). To explore these areas, we utilize a multi-organ approach that includes the salivary glands, lacrimal glands, and pancreas as well as the cornea. We also employ a bevy of tools to define cell identity and behavior such as single cell/bulk RNA sequencing, organoids, atomic force microscopy, ex vivo organ culture, mouse genetics, and high resolution imaging.
