Santosh R. Ghimire

Santosh R. Ghimire [Ph.D., Graduate Cert. in Sustainability] is an Environmental Engineer at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Dr. Ghimire has over 15 years of professional experience including the doctoral and postdoctoral research and teaching, and humanitarian work experience. Dr. Ghimire has completed a five years of ORISE postdoctoral Fellow appointment at the U.S. EPA and conducted independent research focused on sustainability analysis of stormwater management and green infrastructure practices. His research focuses eco-efficiency and sustainability, life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle cost assessment, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, municipal water distribution system, green infrastructure practices, stormwater low-impact development (LID), and sediment erosion. He has contributed to over 45 scholarly publications including technical reports, peer-reviewed articles and conference presentations disseminated in renowned journals and conferences across Asia, Europe, and North America. He has taught civil and environmental engineering courses including Engineering Fundamentals, Pipe Hydraulics, and laboratory sections of Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection System Design, Water Resources Engineering, and introductory Physics at the University of Georgia and Michigan Technological University. ​Dr. Ghimire earned a Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering and an interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Sustainability from Michigan Technological University. He served as President to the Northeast Georgia Branch of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He currently serves as a member of the Environmental and Water Resources Systems Committee of ASCE, and as reviewer of 10 scientific and engineering journals.
