Samuel J. Lawrence

Sam Lawrence is a planetary scientist at the Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science division of the Johnson Space Center, where he serves as the Center's lead scientist for lunar exploration. A Co-Investigator on the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera Team, Lawrence is an acknowledged domain expert at lunar remote sensing, radiative transfer theory, and planetary cartography. Lawrence was the first chair of the NASA Mapping and Planetary Spatial Infrastructure Team (MAPSIT) and is a former chair of the NASA Lunar Exploration Analysis Group, and co-chaired the Science Definition Team for the Artemis III mission.
